Online Ed Tech Program is Connecticut’s First

The Graduate School of Education and Allied Profession’s Educational Technology program is now a fully online graduate degree program. The program is designed for candidates from all teaching disciplines, as well as those contemplating a career change or an enhancement to their existing professional skills.

Program participants work as teachers, co-teachers, and consultants in schools, agencies, and professional development organizations in and out of the field of education. The Master of Arts in Educational Technology is designed to create leaders in the field who can model, use, and provide learning experiences to others regarding best educational technology practices. The program prepares educators to enhance 21st century learning environments in diverse educational settings, and also offers three new online certificates for candidates seeking to improve their skills: Classroom Technology Integration, Leadership in Educational Technology, and Learning Design and Technology.

Educators looking to join this program are doing so at the right time, as Connecticut has just adopted the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) standards, and Fairfield’s program will soon offer ISTE-certified credentials. ISTE teacher certification is competency-based, using the ISTE Standards for Educators as a framework. This summer, the Ed Tech program will offer two courses in response to these new standards: “Unpacking the New ISTE Standards” and “Special Topics: Open Educational Resources.”
