Seven Stags Athletics Programs Earn NCAA Public Recognition Awards

Seven Fairfield University athletics programs were cited for excellence in the classroom with NCAA Public Recognition Awards. The honors are given to programs that have scored in the top 10 percent of their sport in the most recent Academic Progress Rate (APR). Fairfield women’s basketball, field hockey, men’s golf, women’s lacrosse, softball, men’s tennis and women’s tennis all merited the honor for the 2017-18 academic year.

“I am proud of the effort that our student-athletes put forth in the classroom and congratulate the seven teams that have earned recognition from the NCAA,” Director of Athletics Paul Schlickmann said. “The Public Recognition Award shows the commitment that our student-athletes and coaches have toward academics, and the work ethic that both have toward achieving excellence in the classroom.”
