Stag Athletes, Among Nation’s Best in Graduate Success Rate, Top the MAAC

Fairfield University student-athletes have achieved one of the highest graduation rates in the nation in the latest Graduation Success Rate (GSR) announcement from the NCAA. The Stags posted a 97 percent GSR for a four-year cohort of Stags that enrolled at Fairfield between 2007 and 2010. Fairfield was one of 24 Division I schools to have a 97 percent GSR or higher among freshmen who enrolled in 2010.

“Our GSR score shows the commitment our student-athletes have in the classroom,” Director of Athletics Paul Schlickmann said.

Fairfield owned the highest GSR in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) with Manhattan College placing second at 94 percent.

Eleven varsity athletics programs at Fairfield University achieved a 100 percent graduation rate based on the current information: field hockey, men’s golf, women’s cross country, women’s lacrosse, women’s rowing, men’s soccer, softball, women’s swimming and diving, men’s and women’s tennis, and volleyball.
