Stags Rowing Erg-A-Thon Raises More Than $2000 for Al’s Angels

Fairfield University’s men’s and women’s rowing programs held an “Erg-A-Thon” to raise money for the charity Al’s Angels, energetically rowing one million meters with enthusiasm and pride on Dec. 7, 2017.

The event featured men and women student-athletes from the rowing programs posting meters on an erg machine, an indoor training device that simulates rowing.

Senior Nolan Campbell ’18 and junior Matt Marshall ’19 not only took their turn on the ergs, but also took the lead in planning and implementing the event. Rowers and coaches accounted for the million meters, and Fairfield students and the University community provided financial support through pledges and donations.

Al’s Angels was founded in 2004 by Al DiGuido for the purpose of providing moments of joy and comfort to families challenged by childhood cancer, rare blood diseases, AIDS, domestic violence, and financial hardship. Through hard work, tremendous generosity, and an amazing group of volunteers, Al’s Angels has helped thousands of children in the tri-state area.
