Fairfield Startups Strike Deals with Investors

Fairfield students competed in the fifth annual Fairfield StartUp Showcase in April. The Showcase is the culmination of Fairfield StartUp, a yearlong program of events designed to foster young entrepreneurial talent at Fairfield University through engagement with mentors and investors drawn from alumni and local business communities.

Following an introduction by the master of ceremonies, Dean of the Dolan School Donald E. Gibson, PhD, five teams took the stage to make their pitch to a panel of alumni investors. More than 100 viewers who watched a live stream of the event joined an audience of 250 faculty, family, friends and members of the local business community and participated in text-to-vote questions that followed each pitch.

Investors pledged a total of $40,000 in startup funds to the students, many of whom continued in the Fairfield University Entrepreneurial Labs (FUEL) accelerator as part of the Summer Fellows program.
