Profession & Fairfield’s Influence
Tina Weinfurther ’78 is the president and CEO of CNM Connect, a Dallas-based nonprofit management-consulting firm with more than 30 years of advising nonprofits. Since joining CNM in 2014, Weinfurther has led the organization through a restructuring, broadening the organization’s mission to engage nonprofits and other stakeholders in strengthening North Texas communities.

Weinfurther chose to attend Fairfield and earn her degree in accounting because the program had an excellent reputation. As a student, Tina worked at Read’s Department Store in Trumbull as Santa’s helper and sales clerk, and in Fairfield’s cafeteria serving fellow students. She also served as treasurer of the Fairfield University Student Association (FUSA). In this role she worked with Evelyn Taylor, a counselor in the Career Placement Center, who was the liaison to FUSA.

“Evelyn was great to work with and incredibly helpful to me,” said Weinfurther. “Through Fairfield’s internship program, I learned working for a public accounting firm was not for me and looked at corporate opportunities. Joining GTE Financial’s Associate Development Program allowed me to experience different accounting assignments. This worked out well because I learned I didn’t want to do accounting at all. Instead, I really enjoyed problem solving and headed straight to management consulting.”

After GTE, Weinfurther built her career in management consulting, including roles with Towers Perrin and Watson Wyatt Worldwide — now Towers Watson — where she implemented a global account management model that remains the foundation of the firm to this day. She went on to become CEO of TNS Prognostics, a research, technology and consulting firm.

Largest Gift to Fairfield
Tina and her husband Dan Weinfurther have included a significant bequest to Fairfield in their estate plan.  These funds will provide substantial support to the University’s general operations, which sustains the mission of Fairfield.

Why Give to Fairfield?
“There are many organizations with important missions doing meaningful work that Dan and I could have supported. We chose to give to Fairfield University because of its long track record of accomplishment, vision for the future, leadership role in the community and for the very positive impact it has had on my life.”
