GSEAP sponsored a presentation by Connecticut Commissioner of Education Stefan Pryor on Urban Education Reform: A Vision for Connecticut Schools, which was attended by faculty and students, as well as teachers and other members of the community.
The GSEAP and Bridgeport Public Schools partnership, which funds internships for graduate students in teacher education, school psychology, and counselor education, was expanded to include a dual enrollment program in which Bridgeport senior high school students may enroll in firstyear undergraduate courses at Fairfield. Faculty members and graduate students serve as mentors to the dual enrollment students.
Dean Susan D. Franzosa was appointed to serve on Governor Dannel Malloy’s task force on teacher preparation. The Educator Preparation Advisory Council is charged with making recommendations governing teacher education in Connecticut.
The program in school psychology, directed by Dr. Paula Gill Lopez, offered two National Association of School Psychologist workshops on school crisis prevention and intervention. The workshops provided a model for curriculum development in the school psychology program, as well as training and professional development credits for the region’s school psychologists and counselors.
