Dr. Christine Siegel, former associate dean of the Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions (GSEAP), has been named associate vice president for academic affairs at Fairfield.
Dr. Evelyn Bilias Lolis, assistant professor of school psychology and special education, now serves as interim associate dean of GSEAP.
Dr. Siegel will continue and expand the work she began in the past two years as faculty consultant for assessment of student learning, with responsibility for the University-wide academic assessment improvement to the Fairfield’s academic programs. She began her position in late January.
“Dr. Siegel has the ability to conceptualize educational problems and has a thorough knowledge of assessment and educational measurement,” said the Rev. Paul Fitzgerald, S.J., senior vice president for academic affairs. “She is skilled as a consultant able to collaborate effectively with faculty while providing vision and leadership.”
Dr. Siegel brings nearly five years of administrative experience as associate dean to her new post. At GSEAP, she directed school-wide assessment and accreditation efforts, and managed community outreach and partnership programs with Bridgeport Public Schools and St. Martin de Porres Academy in New Haven, among other duties.
Dr. Bilias Lolis will now serve as the University Certification Officer and liaison to the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE). Her responsibilities include endorsing GSEAP candidates for state certification, overseeing curriculum and program development initiatives and community partnerships, among other duties.
“These responsibilities provide an exciting blend of consultation, assessment, and community engagement practices,” she said. “I feel honored for the opportunity to serve GSEAP, its students, and faculty in this capacity.”
