The Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering has elected Dr. Evangelos Hadjimichael, professor of physics and engineering and founding dean of the School of Engineering, to membership in the select organization. His induction took place in May.
The Connecticut Academy is patterned after the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Engineering in Washington, D.C. The major objective is to provide information and advice to the government, industry, and the people of Connecticut, and to encourage the younger generations in science, engineering, and technology.
Dr. Hadjimichael was instrumental in merging the Bridgeport Engineering Institute with Fairfield University, serving as dean of the School of Engineering for 15 years.
“Dr. Hadjimichael has been an invaluable member of the Fairfield University community for over 45 years,” said Dr. Jack Beal, who has served as dean since Dr. Hadjimichael stepped down. “He has been an outstanding faculty member in the classroom and mentor to our students. He has been an able and collegial administrator at the University. He is richly deserving of this honor.”
